I'm from Russia , so I can honestly say the food is great 5 stars! The soups , entrees , lots of selections, you can't go wrong . The problem is that the service is somewhat crappy , some waitress' are nice, but most of the staff is rude , dismissive and unpleasant, especially the one of the owners! But we come back over and over , thanks to the chef !

We had dinner at Lula's this past Friday. We were staying at the hotel across the street and thought the cuisine looked interesting. I am SO GLAD we tried it out. Firstly, the food was incredible. We started with a samsa to share (it was quite big)... that was very savory and the flavor was great! I had the karski kebab and my husband had the spiced chicken kebab. They were huge portions! The lamb was very tender and very flavorful and my husband says the chicken was cooked perfectly. The best part was the dipping sauce though! The sweet and savory combination was to die for, I could have bottled it and drank it! It reminded me of a less spicy version of West Indian sauce that's typically served on 'doubles'. I can't explain it, but I think we spent a good amount of time afterwards just raving about it to each other! Also, I know many people commented about the service, but we had a great experience. We sat outside and our server was a younger guy. He was awesome, very attentive and seemed genuinely wanting to ensure we enjoyed everything. The only negative I could say isn't really the restaurant's fault, but many people outside were smoking, and the smell and constant smoke in our face was annoying. It's probably a legal difference between what's allowed on patios there was the NY area. Oh! And be warned, if you take the food home, as tasty as it is, it had a strong smell! We had it in our mini fridge, and eventually had to throw it outside because every time we opened the fridge, it smelled up the whole room! Good smell, but not in the morning after a night of drinking! Overall, I give it 5 stars when looking at overall quality for the value. I will go back when I'm in Miami next!

I liked the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. I had the lamb kabob; it was really good and a fair portion. The waitress was a little dry and the tended to take our plates before we were done. I was bothered the fact that the tip was included in the bill (which was fine) but then they wanted a second tip once we paid with our receipt for dry service. I would go again and order chicken kebob.

Was craving some russian, so went on saturday night. Charcho soup was excellent. Blinis with salmon roe were cold and below average. Manti and Chibourehi were tasty. The had live music which played many good russian songs. Service was ok.

Lamb chops, Samsa and roasted potatoes were the best! Waitstaff very nice and intuitive. Seriously the samsa is a large puff pastry filled with lamb and onion and cumin. It is tasty and the lamb filling is not ground lamb. Roasted potatoes had fresh rosemary on them that upped the level of a common spud. Delish. Even the basmati rice was a good vehicle to sop up the juice of the lamb. Tasty. Trout needed spice and I like the skin a bit more crispy. Wish I had a bigger stomach to try more stuff.

Order anything and everything. If you like Russian food, go. There's a $20 liquor corking fee and $10 for champagne, beer or wine. Great service and good vibe.

Personally I think a 3 star is bad, but since Yelp said it means "A-OK" I'm just going to follow instructions. It is a pretty fancy establishment with the elegantly folded napkins and all, which is quite different from what I was expecting at a "Kebab House." We went at around 3PM so it was very quite and peaceful. I started with the shurpa soup, which is lamb with vegetables. The broth itself was decent, but most of the lamb was so overcooked in not the good way that it tasted like mush. My entree was the lamb shish kebab. It had giant chunks of hearty undercooked meat which may or may not have given me food poisoning (I'm not going to hold it against them though since I ate a lot of random things while on vacation and I can't pinpoint to a real culprit). You can pick sides of basmati rice / potatoes / steamed vegetables, all were pretty flavorless. The little pile of radish salad on the side was pretty good though. Conclusion: food was decent but definitely not great. Considering prices were on the high side ($22.50 for the lamb entree and $7.5 for the small bowl of soup) I'm not a huge fan.

We had a dinner party for 19, last night, at this great Russian Restaurant, located in Sunny Isles. Coming from Chicago and our typical predicable mediocre bunch of Russian restaurants, we had hour expectations set low for the 50th anniversary party dinner. We were surprised, entertained, well fed and pleased. The food was fresh, and well prepared Russian standard. The tuna tartare was stand out. The entertainment was typical, live, canned, dance music, and pretty good, for live Dj/kareoke that I have come to be skeptical of. The managers are friendly, the room is bright, fresh and elegant, and the wait staff was great. If you want a Russian restaurant experience when in Miami area, whether you are Russian or not, give Lula a try.

Walked in on a whim after the first place I tried going was closed for brunch. While they were not busy they were attentive. The dishes were unique and very well done. My favorite was the chicken ravioli soup. It was so simple yet so different from anything I've ever had. I'd try them again.

Awesome lunch! A customer took us for lunch this week to this place. I've never tried Russian cuisine and I must admit everything was awesome. Started with soup that was "cold and pink". We learned quickly that Russian tradition includes vodka with lunch or dinner so in true Russian fashion we had shots accompanied by pickles, that's right pickles. We also had some awesome cucumber salad, egg salad, a pastry type pie with lamb inside and finished the meal with pork and chicken kebabs. Topped off of course by more vodka shots. The place has a entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday eves. Definitely going back with wifey! Give em a shot

This is the best place for shish kebab!! The chicken kebab is to die for!

The food here is decent. I am not an expert on Russian or middle eastern food by any stretch, but most of the people who eat here and work here are Russian and/or Jewish (it's sunny isles after all). The samsas are huge and tasty. The kebabs are good as well. They come with a dipping sauce that I would describe as very salsa-esque. My biggest gripe about this place is the price. Over $50 for 2 kebab entrees and 2 samsas is too high in my opinion. Especially considering the food fell into the "good not great" category for me. It's right across the street from me, so I will probably be back, but I won't be in a huge rush to return.

Very friendly service - the food very very good - you must like Russian food and you can share as the plates are big yummy

  • Lowell P.

The food is pretty good - but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. Example: Chicken kabob will set you back $17, and although the portion size is good, they use thigh meat, which isn't exactly the priciest part of a bird. Granted, many Russians I know prefer the taste of dark meat, but my American sensibilities can't get around paying $17 for some thigh. (The last time I saw thigh that expensive was at a bachelor party.) Anyway, the borscht is good - sometimes great - almost justifying the cost. I switched to the $18 Lula Kabob on our last visit and liked it - I just wish it was priced better for what it is (ground meat). Ultimately, if you don't mind the price, this is some good Russian food.

Simply loved this place! Samsa was great, charcho soup was wonderful, Shish-kebab was very tender but still needed sauce served to bring flavor. But overall, a great experience and delicious food

We go to Lula Kebab when ever we are in sunny isles. Very nice casual atmosphere . We ate there the other night and we had dumpling soup and my girl had the churma soup, both were excellent. I had the chicken shish kabob and it was fantastic. Our waiter was great.

Good relaxation atmosphere at the outdoor setting. Good patio furniture but the table was covered with linen as it was indoors. Friendly waiter added to the good mood. The food was very delicious - all items we orders. I'd say, if you made your way there, order meat - especially lamb dish. Prices are a little high but I guess they were at the level for that area. The bottom line is - if you want to relax after a long day at the beach while on vacation, come to Lula Kebab for a good food and relaxation to end your day in a good mood.

STAY AWAY! This is a shoddy joint with a horrible service. Food tasted actually three star like, but their attitude and service is pretty bad. I came there as I found and purchased their coupon on restaurant.com . When I try to redeem it at the end of my meal they simply refused to take it. They are crooks and I suggest you to look elsewhere.

Food is delicious and I like it a lot! Service is unpredictable. Once we got a good, quick service, after that my experience getting worth every other visit. I had literally looking for the waiter to request any service in my last visit. And there was not busy at all.

It's a Russian place. I am from Russia and know Russian food. This is not it. Complete disappoint. Not a single fresh or authentic item. Everything is frozen then warmed up. DO NOT GO!

We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we had dinner there twice within 3 nights. The first time we came, we felt under-dressed in jeans and casual wear as people were really dressed up and some were dancing to the live music. Since we love to dance, we dressed ourselves up a couple of nights later and came for dinner and dancing on the Saturday night. The same musicians were playing but the restaurant was less busy than it had been on a Thursday night (go figure) and the dancing was minimal but we still managed to dance a little bit. We ordered the Samsa (baked homemade pastry with lamb and spices). It was very tasty. Don't expect a huge piece at $7.50 per piece. We also had the spiced chicken kebab and the lamb kebab with potatoes as a side. I didn't find the portions to be "huge" like another reviewer said but the kebabs came with four very large pieces of meat each which were plenty for us (2 adults and one child) to share (we do not like huge portions). In other words, I felt that the portions were a good size and fair but not huge. I consider Cheesecake Factory portions to be huge so that is my comparison. The second time we came for dinner, we had the pickled vegetable platter which I didn't love and I felt it was overpriced. We ordered the same kebabs because they were so good the first time. They didn't disappoint. Both times, a bread basket was delivered to our table with fresh, warm bread which we didn't have to pay extra for (as mentioned in another review). We found the service to be good. Maybe it was because we both spoke Russian to the owner and the servers... I enjoyed the food, service and ambiance and will be back for sure the next time I visit Florida.

hello, this is my first review. I had to write it due to the total dissatisfaction that I encountered at this restaurant. let me start off that the waiter was not a bad guy, the food sucked!!!!! his name was Sergio, I went out to dinner with the wife and kids, ordered MAC and Cheese from the menu for 3 of the kids ( the were given spaghetti with some sort of cheese melt ) I would of rather the cook notify us they had no mac and cheese left.... the wife and other daughter ordered fettuccine Alfredo. There were no chicken breast to place on the pasta SO I ordered the garlic Cornish hen on the menu for the wife and I would just take the breast meat off. ( the chicken was very good ) the fettuccine was HORRIBLE !!!! it was mostly oil.. eeeewwww I ordered the beef stroganoff... Boy what a mistake...... first it was on YOU GUESSED IT, Spaghetti instead of noodles. I have had Russian meals before and all were very good (elsewhere) instead of steak tidbits being braised and cooked properly they were tiny slivers of steak, almost what you find in a Philly steak sandwich. (didn't taste horrible but not was it was supposed to be.) the soup was okay (beef and vegetables) bread was served late to the table. after I ate my meal, Mind you none of my 4 kids ate the food AT ALL !!!!!! the wife managed to push down only 1/3 of it. finally I called the waiter and explained and showed him that only myself and wife consumed some of the food due to the food being incorrect or taste horrible. waiter spoke with cook and the removed 2 of the (SPAGHETTI AND CHEESE) the waiter offered a couple of free dessert and It was greatly appreciated but we respectfully declined. I travel worldwide for business and have encountered great, so-so & bad food along the way but when you bring it up to the waiter and then to the chef that the quality was so bad it could not be consumed ( and the plates full of the food proved the statement) that they be removed from the bill all together and an alternate be offered to eat. not just a dessert. Mind you I left that place and purchased a pizza right next door to them, at least the kids ate that (being how late it was) I was super dis satisfied with the quality of the place being that for the price I thought it should of been better. regardless I just want to point out again that the waiter DID try and was polite at all times and did speak to the cook. The manager & cook should of done their jobs correctly from that point on. thank you!!

Being of a Russian heritage this place was calling my name. It is a down to earth great dinner spot to get your Russian food fix if your mom or grandmother are not around. The best thing hands down was the napoleon cake. Just like grandma makes!! Also, the shashlik is exceptional in the chicken and lamb variety! Yum!

Very expensive and not so good Russian food and definitely not at that price. Go to New York Deli which has. Delicious food and great prices. Lamb was ok. Chicken was dry. pickled veggies were ok. Music was good and fun to dance. Go here for a drink, dessert and dancing. I ordered Salmon kebab and my husband got lamb chops. THose were the best dishes. Portions are really small for a Russian Restaurant They need to have more options for salads. Like a salad sampler for $30 and offer 6 or 7 salads. and a zakuski platter in the same style.

I agree with some of the others about the shocking prices, but I'm glad I came. I had no issues with service as I came during off hours (1:30pm) for lunch. We sat outside, but when I made my way to the bathroom, I noticed the inside was large, clean, and beautifully decorated. Maybe one of these days I'll come for dinner. They were out of the salmon caprese but recommended the eggplant/mixed vegetables sautee. This was delicious. The bread came out hot with real butter, and that was a plus. I ordered the salmon kebab, which was big enough for 2! It was simply and perfectly seasoned, and the vegetables were 'normal'- not exciting, but fresh. I was very pleased with the salmon though; I saved half for a snack later. My friend ordered the pan-fried rainbow trout- this was a large portion too, but the breading was a little oily. He wouldn't get that again, and I wouldn't order it myself. I'd definitely come back and try the lamb and the calf liver though! The portions were worth the higher price.

Delicious gourmet Russian/Georgian cuisine. this is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. almost everything is fantastic. try the garlicky eggplant(Georgian Rolls) for a starter. for a main course, the kebabs are fantastic, especially the lamb and Sturgeon, and the Chicken Tabacka. i have been there, many times and only the trout, and steamed vegetables, i would not recommend.

    (4)
  • Rebecca K.

Absolutely delicious! We have frequented many Russian/Georgian restaurants and this was among the best. I ordered "manit" which are homemade dumplings stuffed with lamb, and my husband had lamb kebobs. We also ordered soup and a special spicy tomato salad. It was wonderful to eat outside in the breeze, the service was attentive, and the amount of food you get is unbelievable. My manti was enough for two ... alas, I couldn't clear my plate!

I took away a star..NO REFILLS.. granted I had to ask but they charged for refills of iced tea! Beet and cucumber soup with dill was borscht with dill . Chicken kebobs plain and marinated were very good ...roasted potatoes sliced thin roasted potatoes no seasoning whatsover very boring....same with steamed veggies... surprisingly not overdone (I hate soggy veggies) but I with my heart condition even I had to add salt. Gratuity added onto the bill automatically and thats for a party of 2.

Ok food, they charge for everything. I mean everything! No refills, bread basket cost money. Bottom line, nickel and dime house.

Ordered a banquet to celebrate special date. Food: overpriced, unremarkable, very small portions. Somoked fish came sliced on a large plate, slices very so thin - it was nearly impossible to pick it from the plate. Service was very slow; strange ambiance on Saturday night where many young children very running around, screaming, uncontrolled by their parents. avoid!

The menu prices outside barked at us like a mad dog. It took me another few months before I even dared to walk in the door. The place looks lavish, especially for that strange-looking plaza along the stretch of Sunny Isles beach. You can spot some Louis 16 cognacs in glass bar shelves, a typical Russian attitude! The staff was very professional and attentive, which surprised me. Most clientele was Russian too, as I could understand my mother tongue. I tell you a secret that everything we tried on the menu was absolutely delicious! A lavish, eleborated Russian-style food porn! The most favourite and a must-try: Deconstructed Golubzy (lazy stuffed cabbage), and big bottles of Baltika beer were truly nostalgic. Also, there was a Russian male performer, playing several instruments and singing the retro classics of 80s and 90s in 4 languages. I found it to be a nice romantic touch. So, ladies and gents, don't be scared of the barking dollar signs, as it's worth every penny.

AMAZING!! Great food and beautiful environment and reasonably priced for how nice and tasty it is. The service was very good. We ate the Greek salad, mushroom julienne, lamb shish-kebab, and lazy cabbage rolls and everything was soooo delicious.

  • Michelle B.

I'm Russian, and I can say this place has the best Russian food in the area. The food is wonderful!! We started with a delicious Greek salad, then ordered Vareniki, and Kebabs. The portion size is perfect, it's not small and not too large. The service was great, I don't remember the last time I had such wonderful service. Best thing to do is make a reservation to be guaranteed a table since it gets so busy. The atmosphere is classy, and sooo clean! My family left happy, and satisfied. I will definitely recommend this place and keep coming back.

  • Rod H.

Avoid this place at all costs! I almost never write reviews unless truly moved to do so by either the pleasure or pain of the experience. Well, this places food, service and cleanliness are simply awful. The salad greens were wilting, the glasses were covered in spots and lipstick and I swear the silverware must have been picked off a greasy kitchen floor. Beyond that, an older gentleman who I assume was owner, was rude beyond belief. I seriously think this guy was unstable as he was having what sounded like a fight over the phone. The food was of poor quality and not fresh at all. Perhaps it may appeal to a sub select group of Russian clientele, but this place made me feel like I just ate in the former Soviet Union.

What a fun, campy night, and a break from typical restaurant choices. It was within walking distance from our hotel on Sunny Isle. My family and I enjoyed the the appetizers of puffed pastry with ground lamb (Samsa) and a smaller, fried version called Chebureki. Most of then had and enjoyed the lamb kebab. I had the Sturgeon kebab (well made, but not really a good kebab choice for the price, should have gotten the lamb). All were served with an interesting sweet/spicy sauce i would descrbe as a combination of siracha and duck sauce (personally didn't care for it, but appreciated trying it). My wife and I enjoyed traditional Russian vodka and beer with our meal while the kids had a fruity punch. Ended with cherry/cheese blinis which were like fresh buttery ravioli covered in warm sour cherry kirsch. Also had the excellent Napoleon cake. Yes, we indulged ourselves as is the spirit in this place. We had a blast with the singing and campy disco light show in the background. You must go with an attitude receptive to finding fun in such an environment, as we did. We really had fun people watching, too. Vodka helped, and is recommended as is the Russian beer! It was a truly memorable and different experience.

The first thing one should note about Lula Kebab House is that its cuisine is more Russian than Mediterranean. Yes, the word kebab does appear in this establishment's name, but the reality is that Lula entertains patrons by providing a pretty traditional Russian experience. Herring, potatoes and onion? Check. Caviar? Check. Rhinestone-laden woman belting out Russian tunes? Check. This place is reminiscent of Brighton Beach clubs, particularly in its affinity for Bar Mitzvah-esque neon lights and copious portions. And, most importantly, the food is really good! Did I need to eat as much herring as I did and consequently spend the latter part of the evening drinking gallons of water? Probably not. But it was worth it.

first time i was ever turned away by a restaurant. we arrived with adequate time before closing, was busy but not full the maitre d said there was no room, even though there were empty chairs at the bar we asked about waiting for a table, but he told us to return another time and specified to call ahead hmm rejected!

  • Anish Z.

More of a 3.5. Food is great. Must have the well marinated and seasoned kebab. The problem is that the portion size is small so though we ate the dinner portion it felt more akin to lunch sized. Service is lacking. I went with my brother and I thought we were being ignored on purpose. My brother went again with my family and had the same service. My dad even had to get the manager to get the check to pay the bill. Sum end is that the food taste excellent and is a must try but service sucked a$$. Price is typical for sunny isles/adventura so bit on the pricy side.
